Every surgery takes some recovery time. How long this takes will depend on the procedure and the person.
Your age and overall health will play a huge part in how quickly you recover and this needs to be considered. There are a few things that you can do to help speed up this recovery time.
Liposuction is quite an easy procedure to have done and there are no major incisions to worry about when you come out of surgery. Doctors will recommend that you take at least a week off from any strenuous activity which may pull at your wound. Also it is advised not to drive during this period as this can also affect how you recover.
To speed up the recovery time you should follow what your doctor tells you and not skip parts. Although you may think that you are fine and recovering well you need to follow the recovery procedure.
When you first come out of surgery you will feel discomfort and this is natural although your wound will be draining fluid this is normal and you should only be worried if it smells and changes color. The draining will be helping the swelling to go down and this will help your recovery so although it may not be pleasant it is necessary.
Although you may feel more comfortable laying in bed you do need to get up and moving about and back to normal as soon as possible. Even walking for a very short distance in the first few days will aid your recovery and it does get easier. Walking and moving will help you to not get blood clots and will help your body to recover. You should avoid soaking in the bath for at least 48 hours and no swimming for at least a week you should also not apply ice or heat packs to the area. Ensure that you drink plenty of liquid as this will keep you hydrated.
Wearing compression garments is also advised and you need to ensure that these are not too tight. These garments work by applying constant pressure to the wounds and enabling them to heal faster. You should be aware of what your incision looks like and watch it to ensure that it does not become infected. If you are keeping an eye on it then you will notice any small changes at all and these can be dealt with.
If you are sensible and keep an eye on what is happening with your body then you will recover faster and look amazing in no time at all.
Blood clots can lead to many health complicatons including stroke and are more common among inactive and/or obese individuals.
Blood clots are life threatening however exercise can help prevent their formation and assist in dissoving of existing clots.
Walking for only 45 minutes a day, five days a week is already very beneficial!
Have you tried yoga? After a period of rest to let the incisions heal, gentle stretching can boost blood flow to the injured areas to facilitate healing.
If you remain active and eat a healthy diet, you're unlikely to get blood clots. Taking fish oils is extra insurance although you probably don't need them. If you can feel a lump on your leg, it's not deep vein thrombosis and it cannot give rise to a pulmonary embolism. It's only fat old men like me that get deep vein thrombosis, and we usually survive.
