There is a lot of confusion surrounding the subject of liposuction. Most people understand the basic fact that liposuction makes you look leaner and thinner. What the actual concept is behind liposuction is not that well known.
The Basics of Liposuction
The procedure for liposuction includes the outright removal of fat from a specific area of the body. This is achieved by a suctioning procedure that will be discussed later on.
What most people seek is a spot reduction of fat from areas that traditionally collect the larger amounts of fat such as the stomach, buttocks, thighs and arms. There is no way of losing weight in any one particular region of the body with diet and exercise alone.
It is also important to be clear that liposuction is not for those who seek to simply lose weight. A healthier lifestyle with diet and exercise is needed for that. Plus, the more fat that you lose naturally the more the remaining fat can be removed effectively from troublesome areas.
So liposuction is not a form of weight loss but rather a means to properly and effectively reshape the body. Again, this is achieved by the removal of unwanted stored fat from strategic places. The final result can be a perfectly sculpted body.
Old Style Liposuction
In traditional liposuction a patient is placed under general anesthesia while the fat is removed. There is swelling involved as you will find in any surgical procedure and the recovery can take a while.
Tumescent Liposuction
Tumescent liposuction is a method that uses local anesthesia. Smaller incisions are made and the fatty area is injected with a tumescent solution. This will cause swelling in the fat cells and the blood flow will be restricted. These fat cells will be suctioned out through a straw-like device.
It is performed on an outpatient basis which means that you will not be required to stay for an extended amount of time in a hospital room when the surgery is complete.
What Happens After?
Touch-up and revision liposuction are procedures that are designed as a follow-up to the original liposuction treatment. Further amounts of fat are removed than was suctioned out previously. This procedure corrects any flaws that may have occurred. There is only a limited need for this treatment as most surgeries are done correctly the first time.
After the surgery people will find that the fat does not return easily nor does it move to other parts of the body. Be sure to watch your diet after the procedure because new fat could grow of course.
There may be some concerns in regards to recovery time. For a complete and total recovery you are looking at several weeks but total bed rest should only last a couple of days. You’ll probably be back to work within 3-5 days.
If you like to exercise you will probably be back to light exercising within a week and regular activities within two weeks. Naturally these generalizations are based upon the average patient. You need to consult your physician to determine your personal schedule.
How Much Does It Cost?
How about the cost of liposuction? This will be dependent upon the actual doctor you choose for the surgery along with how many areas you wish to have liposuction performed upon.
Generally speaking liposuction costs range from $3,000 to $10,000. Naturally you will wish to consult with the surgeon performing the procedure for an accurate account of the finances involved. There are liposuction surgeons that do offer finance plans to pay off the procedure.
Once misconceptions regarding liposuction have been dismissed you will find liposuction is an effective way to overcome the problems of an unbalanced body shape.
It is sad that we live in a society in which people would rather be slightly more attractive and risk skin cancer than be plain and healthy. Young girls are taught from an early age that their worth as a person, their raison d'être is intimately tied up with their physical appearance.
Look at the TV commercials. Anorexic models parade around on TV selling useless garbage meant to fill the void in our souls, prancing around in a vacuous haze, silicone breast implants (which are also unhealthy) protruding outward like tumescent rocks of malignancy.
Girls are taught that such a look is something to aspire to!!! They are taught that if they don’t fit this model, this paradigm of insipidity, then they don’t matter – they don’t count as people.
Like all surgery the more work the surgeon must do and the more time the surgery consumes the more money one must pay for the procedure. There are several different liposuction procedures and they all use different technology, the more advanced the procedure the more expensive the procedure will be.
Several lasers and light based devices have recently been investigated for their ability to destruct fat cells.
I’d prefer natural beauty. It does not really make sense how these ladies would spend so much money for liposuction and other surgeries that will give bad results in the long run. But they just seem to enjoy having to go through the needles than being naturally beautiful.
